Psychiatric Evaluations & Treatment Planning

Individualized treatment is successful when a plan is customized by working hand-in-hand with patients to address their goals for treatment. Our team will help determine the best path moving forward in treatment planning and recommendations.

At the initial evaluation, we take the time to build a framework that creates a foundation for understanding what brings an individual to seek help. As we begin to formulate an overall approach and individualized treatment plan, we begin by assessing the key contributing factors that influence the diagnostic profile of each patient.

This approach begins with a review of:

  • Current symptoms, concerns, and experiences

  • Past treatments

  • Historical elements including medical history, social history, family history, substance use history

We understand that no diagnosis is set in stone. Instead, it is something that continues to unfold with each encounter, meaning no patient is pigeon-holed to fit a preconceived mold. We understand that initial diagnoses can change based on further evaluation and analysis. This ever-evolving, dynamic diagnostic process allows us to see the patient with fresh eyes at each appointment, instead of categorizing them into preordained diagnoses.

This approach continues as we work with individuals throughout their treatment. By constantly reevaluating and updating those impressions through our dynamic process, our patients continually feel seen and heard and never feel “stuck.”

There are a number of contributing factors to today's high rates of depression, anxiety, addiction and ongoing trauma, including PTSD. For some individuals, adverse childhood experiences stemming from abuse, sexual assault, or witnessing violent acts, are at the root of their adult traumas. Experiences related to biological factors, chemical imbalances, ongoing chronic health conditions or addictions also play a factor in exacerbating mental health struggles. Most recently, the COVID-19 pandemic has created a number of stressors beyond physical health challenges, including economic difficulties and the anxiety and depression that many are plagued with who are fearful and isolated.
